For the Birds

It is early.  Way too early.  It will be some time before the sun even begins to think about lazily rising up over the horizon to brighten the sky and trigger the start of the new day.  It is early enough that even the birds, notorious for being awake early at even the faintest hint of sunlight, know better than to disturb this time of peace with their morning calls.  It is as if there is an unspoken sacred pact about these early morning hours and even the animals are in agreement to keep it.  And yet, there is always someone that fails to abide by even the simplest decencies.

Only a selfish monster repeatedly roars to wake others without a care.  To disturb before even the bird's wake is a crime I wish harshly punishable.  Within this creature’s rumbling, persistent growls lies a very clear message broadcast to all that are roused.

Hey!  Hey, look at me!  Listen to how cool and loud my truck is without a muffler.  Here, let me rev it for you, so you can hear it even better at four in the morning so that you know just how cool and inconsiderate I am before I go to work.  No, I don’t care that you will be unable to return to sleep, I care about you knowing about my truck.

One of these days, I am going to burst and so too will several tires mysteriously.  Merely a jest, or is it?
